'Thor: Love and Thunder' Gets a New Trailer, Featuring Christian Bale as the Villain

Thor: Love and Thunder now have a full official trailer, following a fairly lengthy teaser.

This time, we see Christian Bale's ominously named villain Gorr the God Butcher. There's also a new look at Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, aka Thor's ex-girlfriend, who appears as Mighty Thor, complete with costume, powers, and muscles. Portman did not appear in Thor: Ragnarok, the previous film.

The official trailer captures the feel-good, comedy vibes of the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe action-packed adventure. Look it up below.

The first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder didn't reveal much about the film's plot, which sees the Avenger and former king of Asgard (Chris Hemsworth) go on a mid-life crisis and travel with the Guardians of the Galaxy, led by the slightly irritated Star-Lord (Chris Pratt).

Thor will eventually meet Gorr the God Butcher, who lives up to his moniker. "All gods will die," he declares in the trailer.

Major scenes in the trailer show Thor working out to lose the weight he gained in Avengers: Endgame. Back in the battle, he encounters a startling sight: Jane Foster, bulked up as the Mighty Thor. They haven't seen each other in eight years, seven months, and six days. We also get a good look at Gorr's Voldemort-like appearance: he's pale, bald, cloaked, and involved in god genocide. Finally, we get our first look at Russell Crowe's gold chest-plated Zeus.

"The film finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he's ever faced -- a quest for inner peace," reads Marvel's official synopsis. "But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg, and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who -- to Thor's surprise -- inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance and stop him before it's too late."

Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie ascends to Asgard's throne, and Taika Waititi, who returns to direct after Thor: Ragnarok, reprises his role as the endearing but clueless Korg.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on July 8.
