INSTEAD OF THE LIGHTNING PORT, THE IPHONE 15 WILL GET A USB-C PORT.

Apple will remove its proprietary Lightning port in favor of USB-C with the iPhone 15 series of handsets due out in the second half of 2023, according to TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

According to Kuo, a new supply chain analysis suggests that Apple wants to switch from Lightning to USB-C for iPhones next year. It will be easier to charge the iPhone if such a change is permitted to boost the data transfer rate.

Apple will not eliminate the Lightning port from smartphones in the near future, according to the analyst, because the switch to USB-C could harm the MFi accessory certification business. Maybe the corporation was influenced by the EU.
